if you only enjoy photography clear of focus and crisp and subjects of beauty or romanticism - this image is not for you :disbelief:

if you ever look at pictures and try to get a feeling, to see more than the outside of the event or person, this image may be for you :shrug:

but most of all - this image is for me. :nod: being pregnant is not all glow and joy, nor is all safe and warm, nor does it always feel good "inside" :roll: being pregnant can also feel scary, ugly, lost and even painful :fear:

there are many stereotypes that come to my mind during this process - barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen never seemed to convey a happy meaning to me - in fact it seemed quite miserable and limiting :|

riddled with guilt for even feeling less than overjoyed at all times during this process -this is me freeing myself to express some of the fears, the confusion, and the negative stereotypes i have grown to understand a bit better just like the positive ones

(sorry its a smaller image but i've had many rips lately and not ready to do watermarks yet :shrug: and yes - everything about this image is absolutely on purpose, including its size, its noise, its choice to in monochrome, and its expression)

I quite like this, it conveys a strong feeling. everyone thinks being pregnant is all sunshine and lollypops... but you're right, it's not. though, you're still very beautiful :)

You are so right! Not all things in pregnancy are smooth and pleasant...:nod: In all the amazing description you gave what I most love is this part :

but most of all - this image is for me. All of our works is for us, above anything else and I am so happy to read this!!

I love this image , gives away exactly the feeling you wanna show and the b/w makes it more intense..

its funny the guilt you get for even feeling unhappy in anyway about your condition - like you're not valuing your good fortune enough or something. but hell - its a tough time in so many ways too!

I really think you have caught something that everyone feels. I myself have never been pregnant, but thinking about it brings such a mix of joys and sadnesses. This certainly conveys a negative feeling, but also one (to me) that is brave, strong, and even determined. Having children is such a miracle, but the stereotypes which have been created try their hardest to suffocate the beauty of it all. However, all that I am saying does not really relate to WHY you say you made the image - which is how you in fact feel, not just how others perceive you. I love this image because you speak so well about it (an dall your work, in fact!). :clap: :heart:
